Having extra food and water is always a great way to make sure that if you get lost or stranded you will be prepared.
With the mountains bringing adverse terrain and ever changing weather the only thing you can do to prepare it to OVER prepare for your adventure! Bring extra clothing to keep warm and dry in (dress in layers), bring sunglasses to shade your eyes from the bright sun (goggles are available with every rental), waterproof and breathable rain gear, closed toed shoes are required (do not wear sandals to ride), take water and food (better safe than sorry), maps of the area you are planning your trip, sunscreen for the high elevation sun rays (they can be brutal), first aid kit, driver’s license and insurance.
Accidents do happen, being prepared for minor medical issues is recommended.
You will be deep in the National Forest, off grid, and out of touch with the world. I do suggest winter cloths if riding in the winter. In the spring, summer, and fall, I suggest a jacket, sunglasses, water, snacks, and a camera.
